Find Care & Housing
Janet: I would begin by doing this: 1) find out if there is a Council on Aging for your state. Most states have this body, although it may go by another name. Once you find it, ask them what their process is. There will be an "intake interview." They have various prices ranging from little or none, to a more substantial fee, depending on your income. 2) Also find out where the nearest Senior Center is in your area; they should also be able to guide you on contacting Meals on Wheels.

You may want to order a small number of meals in the beginning to see if the meals suit you. Also: assuming you do order them, just make sure to actually be home when they set up a delivery time. Often the drivers are volunteers and they get ticked off if people aren't home during the agreed on "window" of hours for delivery. (You probably know this, but I'm just going by what I was told.)

There are other meal delivery suggestions on this site, so you may want to find out what others have recommended to have some choices.

Good luck.

If you can afford it and there is one in your area, check out chefsforseniors.com. You consult on meal planning with healthy ingredients and individual meals that can be refrigerated and microwaved come right to your door.
