I have read thru a number of the strings here in the Incontinence forum and most all issues have been discussed. I am still confused over how to deal with when to change them. She does not normally have bowel movements in them. Obviously her memory is almost gone. When I cue her to use the bathroom, like before leaving the house, she always responds that she has just gone to the bathroom and gets angry with me. Do these folks have any sensation when they leak? I mean do they simply leak constantly a little at a time, or do they have more or less regular urinations every hour or so, and maybe feel it but maybe not?

I have often heard it said regarding old age,"never pass up a rest room and never trust a fart."
That said I am struggling to get my wife to wear her diapers all of the time now.

Well the answer to your last question is yes, they may leak small amounts frequently, and yes they occasionally urinate a lot. And my mother had no sensation that she was going, even if she went when I placed her on the toilet.
Can you get her to go before leaving "just in case we can't find a washroom when we get there"? Maybe if she changes into her "good clothes" to go out she will go to the bathroom at the same time? Or maybe point out that "Queen Elizabeth always takes the opportunity when a washroom is available because you never know how long you may have to wait for another opportunity" ;)
