My MIL has dementia and doesn't go to the toilet now. Does anyone know of adult underwear that are very absorbent-especially for overnight? I've tried Tena, Always and Depends Overnight. My MIL is mostly dry during the day-night is when she goes. We do have a plastic sheet for her bed-not sure what else we can do.

Find Care & Housing
Walmart Brand Assure (maybe Assurance) for Nightime - $8 - $10 a bag for 20 diapers (I believe)  I believe they are unisex so there is lot of absorbency in the front and back.  They work better than the Tranquality that I was spending some big bucks on.

Does she go to the toilet when you take her to pee? If she urinates a lot at one time she still has bladder control and timed trips to the bathroom should be a regular routine. Give her time while gently repeating to go pee until she goes especially around midnight then 2am, 4am. If she goes then you can sleep a little longer. It's an old habit and can be like potty training except in reverse. The sound of running water triggers the urge to go. Encourage her to get the toilet paper, hold it and try to go. Bedside commodes help with a quick transfer from the bed (or chair) to a toilet. Getting some in the potty is better than none but, if she constantly leaks you want to check often during the day and every two hour during the night. Changing a brief is easier than changing the whole bed and gown. A thin application of vaseline to inner thighs and buttocks will help prevent tissue breakdown and easier to wipe urine off. Plain wet wipes are a God send to caregivers of adults and babies. Good luck jem....

My husband has dementia and early Parkinson’s and is now in pull up depends. I also bought the large water proof pads and water proof mattress cover.
but I have added 2 feminine pads that stick to the inside of the pull ups . It really helps. I bought two hundred packages of prevail pads from let go. I only paid 160.00 for all of them. Look on Craig’s list, offer up or let go to find them in bulk. I hope this helps you. God bless. Toni

We've had good luck with Tranquility Premium Overnight.  They also have liners you can add to the underwear.  We also have a waterproof pad that lays across the mattress and has flaps for tucking underneath.  If she leaks the pad will absorb it 95% of the time and leave the sheets dry.  Everything was purchased on Amazon, which I think is the only place you can get the underwear.

Thank you Jessica, the pad she has moves around-the one you have sounds like it works really well. Really appreciate the advice. I checked out Amazon and they have quite a few with flaps-do you happen to know the brand name?

My husband sometimes has issues at night. We've been using Attends Extra Absorbency from Amazon. I've been quite happy with them and they contain a lot of fluid. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CISC4GU/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_eeYPDbWNE6JK3) I'm not sure this URL will work, but you can search for "Attends Extra Absorbency" when you're on Amazon's site.

There are absorbent pads that can be put inside the brief that should absorb excess.
You will never prevent all leaks.
Best thing a waterproof mattress (like a hospital bed mattress)
Waterproof mattress pad, get 2 they do not wash easily and quickly so you may need a spare.
Good absorbent under pad.
Try to limit fluids prior to bedtime.

Good advice, hadn't thought about a waterproof mattress. Going to try pads in the underwear, there were some pads that were recommended here that we're going to try. Thanks so much! *~*
